    The death occurred peacefully with family at his side on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 of Albert Eugene Gallant, formerly of St. Charles, aged 90 years. Predeceased by his wife Mae Gallant. Dear father to Gary (Della), Muriel MacLeod (Everett), Richard (Denise), and Gerard (Shannon). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Travis (Erika and Jase), Tyler (Kallie), Emily, Jana, Ryan (Sidney), Jordan, Alex (Sylvia), Kaleigh, and Lindsay. Survived by his brother Harry Gallant (Isabelle), and sisters-in-law Bertha MacPhee and Della Gallant. Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home with visiting hours on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 6-9pm, and Saturday, February 24, 2018 from 9:30-10:30am.     1928-2018

    MacKinnon, Harold F. of Walpole, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on February 15, 2018. He was ninety years old. Harold was born in St. Peters Bay on Prince Edward Island (PEI) Canada. He spent many years as a family farmer, a fisherman, and a lumberjack before immigrating to the United States in 1961. He worked for twenty-seven years at General Motors. In his retirement, he could often be found volunteering at the St. Francis House in Boston or helping out at Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole. An avid hockey fan, he enjoyed following the Montreal Canadiens all of his life. He was also a supporter of the Patriots, Celtics, and he especially loved the Red Sox. Ultimately, his favorite things in life were his family and friends, both here in the US and in Canada. He was always ready for a game of cards, a walk in the woods, or a visit to the ocean. Harold will be sadly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Harold was married to the love of his life for 53 years, Mary MacKinnon (McDonald) of Walpole. They were an amazing team. Son of the late Charles and Margaret MacKinnon. Cherished father to Joseph P. MacKinnon of Norwood, Donna M. Corcoran and her husband Stephen of Wrentham, Diane M. MacKinnon and her husband Thomas of Hudson, NH, Lori A. Cetrino and her husband John of Dorchester, and Linda C. MacKinnon and her husband Ryan of Bernardston. Dear “Grampy” to Skyler, Kyle, Sailor, John, Danielle, Evan and Joey. Caring brother to Celia Ann MacInnis of PEI, and the late Joseph Archibald, James Patrick, Kenneth Joseph, Mary Euphemia, Mary Edna, Sara Anastasia, Louis Charles, Daniel Faustinus, and Victor George. He is also survived and dearly loved by many nieces and nephews in the US and Canada. Visiting hours to be held at the Dr. Roddie Centre in St. Peters Bay on Friday, February 23, 2018 from 11:30-12:30pm. A memorial mass will be celebrated at the St. Peters Bay Roman Catholic Church on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 1:00pm. Interment to follow in the church cemetery.

    The death occurred peacefully surrounded by family at the Souris Hospital on Friday, February 9, 2018 of Marina Johnston, formerly of Souris aged 82 years. Predeceased by her husband Roland Johnston. Beloved mother to Jacqueline Evans (Jeff), Nadine Paterson (Brett), Gregory (Colleen), and Rodney (Lisa). Loving grandmother to Melissa Binns (Dominic), Brandon Paterson, Zowie Johnston, Mya Johnston, and great grandmother to Brooklyn Binns. Survived by siblings Anita Baker, Waldon Rose, and Huntley Rose. She will be missed by her dear friend Roland Bushey, and faithful sheltie companion of 8 years, Bob Barker. Marina was born on the 27th of August, 1935 in the East Baltic to Wallace and Olive Rose. She joined the RCAF in 1953 where she studied to be a nurse and served until 1959. She worked at the Souris Hospital and then moved on to the Colville Manor where she continued her nursing career until she retired in 1992. Marina loved to go trout fishing with her brothers and sisters and spend time at the beach with family. She will be know forever for her quick wit and sense of humor.     The death occurred suddenly as the result of a single motor vehicle accident in East Point, PE on February 6, 2018 of John Frederick MacDonald, formerly of North Lake, PE. Dear husband of Anne MacDonald (nee MacPhee), and beloved father of Johanna Field ( David). Loving grampie to Lauren, and Vivian. Survived by siblings Gerald, Bernadette McInnis (Leo), Loretta Walsh (Leroy), Charlie (Helen), Victor (Debbie), Patricia MacDonald, Bernard, and numerous nieces and nephews. Survived by sister Isabel Lewis (Don Larkin), nephew Jamie Lewis (Tammy), grandniece Melanie, and numerous nieces and nephews. Dear grandfather to Andrew (Katie), Chelsea, Jordon, Robert, Isaac, Seth, Sarah, Jaxon, Jase, River, Finn, and great grandfather to Cooper. Predeceased by his wife Florence Boertien (nee Stewart), and dear father of Berend, Allen (Teri), Lorraine Hennessey (Frank), Lloyd, Richard (Millie), Philip (Janet), and Peter. Fondly remembered by special niece Shirley Murphy (Francis) . He will be missed by 13 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws in Canada and Holland. Egbert immigrated to Canada in 1950 following his brother Stoffer Boertien. He is the last surviving member in a family of 10 siblings. Those to mourn his loss are grandchildren Glen (Natalie), Shane (Lisa), Amanda, Melanie (Adam), Melissa (Craig), Nick (Melissa), Curtis (Colleen), Courtney (Henry), Mitchell, Andrew (Katie), Chelsea, and Jordon; great grandchildren Gracie, Brandon, Rihley, Samantha, Gavin, Mia, Abby, Callie, Meleah, Nathaniel, Austin, Jorey, Darcy, Ty, Zoe, and Cooper.     At the Provincial Palliative Care Centre, surrounded by friends and family on Tuesday, November 28, 2017, of Jeffrey Lee Morrow, aged 48 years, formerly of Charlottetown, PE, and Berwick, NS. Loving father of Jessilee Morrow, devoted brother of Chris (Sherry), and special friends to Erma MacDonald and April Stevenson. Jeff is survived by his father Beverley, and predeceased by his mother Audrey (nee Roach). Jeff graduated from Central Kings High School in Cambridge, NS, and worked as a carpenter and truck driver. Visiting hours from 12:00pm until the time of the memorial, with a celebration of Jeff’s life from 1:30-3:00pm will be held at Dingwell Funeral Home on Saturday, December 9th, 2017.     The death occurred peacefully at the Souris Hospital on Monday, November 27, 2017 of Gordon Robertson, aged 92 years. Gordon served with the Merchant Marine Navy as an Able Seaman, Gunner and was one of the last surviving veterans of World War II. He will be missed by his wife, Phyllis of 63 years and his children, Eric (Brenda), Cathy (David), Vaughan (Linda) and Randy (Deann). Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Chrissy (Fred), Kimberly (Stuart), Marsha (Jacob), Terry (Cindy), Jeremy (Kristen), Holly (Steven), Evan (Majell) and Allan; great-grandchildren Ben, Maisie, Peter, Hailey, Silas, Mallory, Abby, Ella, Sophie, Drew, Taylor and Wesley. Survived by brother, Athol (Gerry), sister Lyla (Lloyd), and sister-in-law Anna. Predeceased by brothers Arnett (Lois; deceased), Sterling and Alvin. Audrey formerly of Souris, was a (retired) RN, and graduated in 1962 from the PEI Hospital School of Nursing. Dear mother of Chris (Sherry), and Jeff Morrow. Lovingly remembered by her grandson Jessilee Morrow. Audrey is survived by Beverley Morrow, and siblings Lynn Ann Dixon (Edgar), Connie Steward (Lorne), and George W. Roach. Predeceased by parents George and Irene Roach (nee McCormack). Reggie was the last surviving member in the large family of Pius and Agnes (Bryan) Flynn from Monticello. Survived by sister-in-laws Mary and Cleo, and brother- in- law Francis MacInnis. Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home with visiting hours on Tuesday, November 7, 2017 from 6-9pm. Funeral Mass to be held at 11:00am on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church. Memorial donations can be made to the Colville Manor and St. Margaret’s Cemetery Fund.

Dingwell Funeral Home has been part of the Souris community since 1912. In 2017, ownership of the funeral home proudly shifted from Gary Dingwell to a fellow Islander Nathaniel Lamoureux.

As a Souris native, and proudly bilingual, Nat, his wife Jill, and their two daughters are proud to carry on the Dingwell’s proud service to both the French and English communities of Souris as the oldest family-owned operation in Prince Edward Island.
