James Raymond Peters
May 30, 1951 - December 17, 2025
Peacefully and with family by his side at the Souris Hospital on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, the death occurred of James Raymond Peters. Born on May 30, 1951, at age 74 years of Kingsboro, PEI. He is survived by his beloved wife Pauline (nee Stewart) and will be remembered as a most loving father to Andrea Peters-Gallant (Steven), Timothy Peters (Sabrina) and Alyssa Runighan (Chad). James was also a caring grandfather to Dagan (Vanessa), Kaleb (Alivia) and Sadie. In addition, he will be deeply missed by his sister Anne-Marie MacNeil, brother-in-law Johnny MacEachern, mother-in-law Margaret Stewart, his many nieces and nephews and dear friends. Predeceased by his parents Mary Peters (nee McCormack) and Raymond Peters; siblings Margaret Creed, James Timothy Peters, Mary Melinda Peters, Joseph Peters, Shirley MacEachern, Theresa Rooney (Joe), nephews Kevin and Jason MacNeil, niece Michelle Rooney, and brother-in-law Roddie MacNeil. He could have been called "Jack", "Jack of all trades". Whatever he was doing he gave 110%, whether it be fishing, trucking, carpentry, maintenance/housekeeping at Colville Manor, and simply being able to do anything he put his mind to. He took great pride in his lawn care- making sure the grass and trimming was perfection! Some would say it looked like a golf course. Music was a pleasure, whether it be singing, playing guitar, or the fiddle, playing a game cribbage or canasta and darts with friends and family. He loved having Mom's apple pie & ice cream and reminiscing about the "good old days". Anyone who knew him would know that he had a way of humbly capturing a whole room's attention when he was in it; whether it was with a funny story of old times or singing a song effortlessly. He could light up a room without even trying. He was a man of few words, but when he said something, it was of great value, or it was a witty comment that you had a good laugh over. His love for music he passed on to his children, which is one of the greatest gifts that will live on in our hearts forever. He had a love for the simple joys in life. Whether it be sitting gently pulling his pull tabs, going for a drive to Tim Horton's to drink his coffee and watch the sites in Souris, or snacking on tootsie rolls, peanuts, and hickory sticks. He loved a good biscuit and a cup of tea and laughing over the most ridiculous things until you cried. Most of all, family meant everything to him, and he loved us all unconditionally, no favorites and his grandchildren were his pride and joy. The love was always felt right up until he got called home. The loss we feel is immeasurable but so is the love he has left behind. To the world he was one person, but to us all he was the world. Resting at Dingwell Funeral Home where visiting hours will take place for family only. A funeral mass will be held at the St. Charles Roman Catholic Church on Monday, December 22, 2025, at 11:00am. Interment will take place at a later date in the church cemetery. If so desired, donations in memory of James can be made to the St. Charles Cemetery Fund.
